SportsballGO!

Updated: Apr 4, 2021

Sportsball GO! is a 2D platforming game where you can take the form of one of four balls that each has distinct abilities and attributes that allow them to overcome any obstacle in your way. You roll, jump bounce, tether and smash your way to the goal post at the end of each level. Balls can be quickly swapped between to overcome more complex situations. Your score at the end of the level is a show of both your speed and ability to skillfully collect all the coins in a level to reach the highest score possible.

This game was originally developed by my team as our final project for the Production One class of our second year at Champlain College. The game during this time was taken from conceptualization to a fairly polished playable prototype in the course of six weeks.

For this project, I was the Scrum Master and Producer for the development team. In these roles, I helped us prioritize our Product Backlog, prepare Sprint Reviews, hold Sprint Retrospective, prepare and run testing sessions, and I helped the team clear up any impediments that we ran into during development. The most memorable part of this project was when we were in a product backlog refinement section and we were about to cut our tethering mechanic. As we were discussing cutting it, one of our programmer finally figured out how to correctly get the tethering to work in the middle of the meeting. We then kept the tethering mechanic and it became one of our favorite parts of the game.
